Over the past couple of years, I have found that Planet eStream customers are increasingly using Microsoft Teams to communicate with colleagues and learners, and distribute resources. Video resources are no different, and the Planet eStream Microsoft Teams App seamlessly allows users to share content from their Planet eStream Video Platform into Teams.
This integration helps further support both Blended and Hybrid Learning models.
From my time spent delivering training to our customer base, I have seen how this integration is used throughout all levels of education. Below I have highlighted the most common ways that the Planet eStream Microsoft Teams App assists teaching and learning.
The Planet eStream App within Microsoft Teams discussions
Users can search their Planet eStream Video Platform for content and share it directly with a Teams discussion. Once the content is shared, it is embedded directly into the Teams discussion for participants to view. The key is that viewers are not directed to the Planet eStream site and stay within the Teams ecosystem – this is great for sharing interactive video-based quizzes with students.
There are also tools for uploading media, including a dedicated upload tool for adding recorded Teams meetings to the Planet eStream Library.
Users can also record TV and radio programmes, access the Connect TV and radio archive, and search their organisations Planet eStream Photo Library.
The Planet eStream Virtual Class tool within Microsoft Teams
Extremely useful when delivering content during a live remote lesson. It is commonly used in conjunction with Teams meetings to provide a simple mechanism for a group of users to view a video together. The main benefit of a Virtual Class is that the presenter can retain control of the media; meaning attendees cannot skip videos or press play when the video is paused.
Microsoft OneNote and Teams
Content stored on your organisations Planet eStream Video Platform can be shared using various built-in methods, such as via a link or embedding. This includes films, TV and radio programmes that have been recorded or added from our Connect Archive.
Planet eStream provides specific embed codes for Microsoft OneNote and Sway, making it easy to embed content into these platforms. This feature is extremely powerful as I know from experience that many of our users use OneNote in conjunction with Teams daily.
For detailed information on how to set up these integrations, please refer to the guides hosted on the Planet eStream Knowledge Base. Alternatively, please feel free to contact our support team. They will be happy to assist you.
Please note, the Planet eStream Microsoft Teams, OneNote and Sway integrations are available to all Cloud-hosted platforms. The features available are also dependent on the modules included in your subscription. If you are not cloud-hosted and would like access to these tools, then check out our Cloud migration page.
