Hybrid Learning Goals

Hybrid learning aims to deliver the best possible experience to the remote viewer without disrupting the lesson or lecture for those students physically present. Ultimately the teacher or lecturer should arrive at a classroom and teach as usual, delivering a good quality product to both audiences. The view of the live lesson is generally taken care of using your meeting platform, e.g. Microsoft Teams. However, this is only part of the solution. It is essential that the lecture be recorded and archived for students who missed the live event and reflective learning.

Hardware Options

The starting point of facilitating good quality room capture is high-quality video and audio sources. Investing in a high-quality camera and microphone setup provides a solid backbone for this. It is worth mentioning that quality audiovisual equipment is very affordable. Complete kits that include a camera, microphone and all ancillary equipment are available from £850 ex. VAT. A fixed installation is not strictly necessary. However, long term, it helps massively by providing a streamlined setup process. Meeting Software & Planet eStream

Most teaching staff are already familiar with using a live meeting platform such as Microsoft Teams for the live lesson/lecture. Planet eStream integrates with these platforms seamlessly, providing a high-quality multi-source capture solution that records lectures and lessons. It also automatically makes these recordings available via the Planet eStream Media Library and your chosen Learning Platform, e.g. Canvas, Moodle, SharePoint, Blackboard, D2L etc. Planet eStream also offers a simple workflow for lecture capture whereby everything can be centrally managed. All recordings of lectures and lessons can be scheduled to automatically start and stop at designated times, nullifying the requirement for teaching staff to have technical input.
